George Howard is an original proponent and widely cited expert in the Younger Dryas Impact Hypothesis. He has studied the globe changing, civilization starting impact for 25 years. In 1998 George was contacted by William Topping and Richard Firestone, who saw a 1997 essay he published on the early web concerning the enigmatic “Carolina Bays,” and their possible relationship to a catastrophe 12,800 years ago. The introduction resulted in a ground breaking impact publication he co-authored in 2007 in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science. Frustrated by the rejection of the data, in 2010 George began the Cosmic Tusk blog to publicize the continuing work of the Comet Research Group. The Cosmic Tusk chronicles the progress of the proposed impact, along with other suspected impacts in human times. Howard collaborates closely with Graham Hancock, Randall Carlson and other alternative history science communicators concerning the Younger Dryas Impact. George is uncertain about “pre-cursor” civilizations, but open minded, and convinced our modern world is borne of catastrophe nonetheless.
